Shockingly Me’s author and creator is: Elizabeth Scozzari. She has been writing short stories since she was eight years old. Her first short story was called “The Freckled Flower.” If anyone finds the only living copy, please let her know – she never got to finish it before she lost it.
Elizabeth can be better described by stringing together slivers of her characters than writing about herself in a professional bio. Two of her short stories and one non-fiction piece have been published to date: Obsessive Compulsive (2013) in Suspense Magazine, Pumpkin Pie (2019) in Avescope Magazine, and Unplugging (2020) in SCN Magazine.
Currently she lives in New Jersey, is an avid reader, writer, baker, procrastinator, fish mom, and dog mom. One day she hopes to add accomplished crochet-er here. She has struggled with, overcome, revisited, and has found a place for her mental wellness issues in her life and her writing.
Her favorite books include: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier; Birdman, The Treatment, The Walking Man Series, and Hanging Hill by Mo Hayder; It by Stephen King; and countless others. Her favorite things to make are cookies. Because right after hot cocoa, homemade cookie dough is her actual favorite dessert.
Everything she writes (and bakes) are scratch made with a pinch of love and a pinch of spice.
Shockingly Me was started in 2015. After many discussions, a lot of hemming and hawing, and tons of learning on the fly Shockingly Me came to life. After taking a year off and making a slow comeback, it came back full swing in 2018. The name came from a conversation with one of Shockingly Me’s biggest supporters, and Elizabeth’s chiropractor. While most of the stories found here are rooted in fiction; the characters, the stories, the plot twists, and the real-life “Only Me” stories are all created by Elizabeth and continue to shock, appall, and entertain the audience.
